Bitcoin mixer fees explained

Why the cheapest headline rate is often the worst deal, and how randomised fees actually improve privacy.

Three fee models

Fixed fees are charged per pool entry and are ideal for larger amounts. Percentage fees scale with volume and suit small transfers. Randomised fees, typically 1–3%, deliberately vary so the fee itself cannot be used as an on-chain fingerprint linking deposit to payout.

Do not forget the miner fee

CoinJoin transactions are large, and each participant pays for their share of the weight. During congestion the network fee can exceed the coordinator fee, so timing your mix against the mempool is one of the easiest savings available.

Cost per unit of privacy

Compare services by what a target anonymity set costs, not by percentage alone. A fixed fee with free remixes may cost less over five rounds than a 0.5% service charged again on every pass.
